Kitara FC lock horns with UPDF football club at the Bombo military grounds in the StarTimes Uganda premier league on Saturday February 3, 2024.
The tie which will be an early kick off is expected to be a thrilling affair as Brian Ssenyondo, the head coach of Kitara FC turns his guns against his former bosses.

Kitara won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Masindi last September through Christopher Kawagu’s own goal after a closely contested tie. However, they know that revenge will be number one on the army side’s agenda tomorrow when they face off again.
“We begin the second round with a tricky game against a side that is fighting for their life in the league. They are going to give their all and fight for everything on the pitch but we have made thorough preparations during this short break. We’ve had test matches and also strengthened our squad which we feel will match this test and also improve us in the remaining campaign,” Ssenyondo said during the pre match interview.

UPDF come into this game second from the bottom with 9 points from fifteen games while the Royals lie 3rd with 29 points.
Paul Kiwanuka’s side registered only two wins in the first round, these came against BUL and Gaddafi FC, drew three and lost 10.
Both Busoga United and UPDF have scored the fewest number of goals (11) in the league thus far, and the latter will be hopeful that the return of striker, Brian Kalumba from Rwanda will inspire them.

Kitara is keen to improve it’s performance on the road this second round. They won 3, drawn 2 and lost 3 in the opening half of the season.
A win for the Royals will not only see them complete a double over the Bombo based outfit but will also increase UPDF’s relegation woes.
Team news:
New additions, Arthur Kiggundu and Lawrence Bukenya may officially make their league debuts for the Royals in Bombo.

Frank Yiga and Shafik Magogo if selected will face their former team for the first time in Bombo.
Brian Aheebwa is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards. However, the striker is expected to be available for the next match against SC Villa in Masindi.

Midfielder Kipper Luwalo is unavailable with a groin problem.
Likewise, defenders Ibrahim Magandaazi and David Kasaija also miss the trip through injury.

Former Kitara defender Samson Kasozi who left the club last month and signed for the army side may have a chance to play against the Royals if selected.
