Police in Lwengo have recovered several suspected stolen motorcycle number plates from a banana and coffee plantation in Lweyebere village, Lwengo rural sub-county.
The recovery followed intelligence from an informant, leading officers to the plantation where the items were hidden.
The suspect, Jumba Rashid, who is already in custody for a related motorcycle robbery case, is believed to have concealed the number plates at the site.
With the help of local community members, police recovered four number plates: UFC 520W, UFH 779X, UFN 559V, and UFH 963F.
Further investigations took the police team to Mirembe village in Ndagwe Sub-County, where a search was conducted at Jumba’s residence with support from local council leaders.
During the search, officers recovered:
•A motorcycle key
•Three broken number plate guards
•One side mirror
•Three spanners
•Remains of a burnt motorcycle seat cover
•Another hidden number plate: UFC 057C
Lwengo police are actively investigating the case to identify the rightful owners of the recovered items and any additional suspects involved.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to stolen motorcycles and spare parts.
